Technology Standards at AMA
Students at American Montessori Academy are given standards-based grades on report cards at the end of each trimester term. For students at Upper, grades will be given after the first and second trimester; students at Lower will be graded after the third trimester. Standards vary by grade and are detailed below. Grading is based on a 1-4 scale with the following descriptions (additional comments may be found on the report card):
Grade Received: 4
The student has mastered the concepts/skills and would be able to successfully teach another student that concept/skill.
Considered "above grade level" and is only awarded to students who have gone above and beyond expectations.
Grade Received: 3
The student has done well and can demonstrate the concept/skill on their own to show understanding.
Considered "grade level" and should be each students' individual goal to achieve a 3.
Grade Received: 2
The student can demonstrate the concept/skill with help or given an example first.
Considered "approaching grade level" and many students will likely achieve a 2.
Grade Received: 1
The student demonstrates some knowledge or ability with the concept/skill, but still needs to improve.
Considered "below grade level" and students should be working extra hard to improve the score.
